If I Were A Rich Wo(Man): Luxury Lingerie

Sorry this is late, Friday's wishlist has become Saturday's list for this week only.

Today, my dream items are made up of wisps of lace and silk that for some reason cost more than a full outfit.
I love lingerie, but the really beautiful stuff is always very pricey, yet the affordable sets looks like they will set on fire if you get too close to a naked flame.

This week I want to dream, so I've compiled a list of my top luxury lingerie items.

The Classic Corset

Agent Provocateur Black Corset
Demelza Corset - Agent Provocateur

Like the LBD, the little black corset is always a winner. I love this Demelza Corset from Agent Provocateur. The mesh and vertical lines are not only sexy but slimming too!

The Colourful Lingerie Set

Aimee Lingerie Set - Myla

Black and white, and sometimes red, are classic lingerie colours, but I like this blue and nude Aimee set from Myla. It's got a soft, vintage feel

The Aimee bra is £120, the suspender belt is £80 and the thong is £60. All together a very expensive purchase.

The Bridal Lingerie Set

Bridal Lingerie
Love Me Camisole and Brief Set - Bordello London

I say this Love Me camisole and brief set from Bordello London is a bridal set, but why just restrict white lingerie to your wedding day? These lace underwear pieces are beautiful and would make a refreshing change to the everyday bra and knickers.

The camisole is £95 and the brief is £75.

The Camisole

Mia Silk Camisole
Mia Silk Camisole - Ayton Gasson

A camisole is a luxurious piece of lingerie and usually quite flattering, as it can hide a round tummy. This Mia Silk Camisole from Ayton Gasson is in a gorgeous shade of lilac with dusty pink bows. It's 100% silk so you know it's going to be expensive.

There's also a matching pair of Mia Silk Knickers.

The camisole is £76 and the knickers are £39.

That's all for this week. I hope you've enjoyed my silky bits.

La Redoute New Collection

Mademoiselle Collection - La Redoute
Mademoiselle Collection - La Redoute

French fashion meets preppy style with La Redoute's Mademoiselle collection

I've always been a fan of La Redoute; they have a wide range of clothes, all with the laid back French style with a sometimes edgy twist.

There's no edge in the new Mademoiselle collection though. It's a range of soft sweaters and pencil skirts in creams and pinks. Very feminine and very French.

There's a forties and fifties feel in the La Redoute collection, provided by the silhouettes and pussy-bow collars. It would be ideal office wear.

Cardigan - La Redoute

Usually this look would be a bit too girly for me, but I think it's saved from being sugary sweet by the cut and the combination of lights with darks. Plus, the simple yet stunning French style.

I'm now going to envision myself swanning along the streets of Paris.

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man: Check Fashion

Tartan, checks and plaid make up this week's wishlist.

It's a classic look that never goes out of style and this Autumn I plan to be decked out in checks. These plaid items are top of my wishlist.

The Bag

Vivienne Westwood Bag
Vivienne Westwood Mulitcoloured Dome Bag - House of Fraser

I couldn't do a checks post without some Vivienne Westwood. This Multicoloured Dome Bag from House of Fraser is quirky yet classic and the deep red colour is perfect for autumn.
Like all of Miss Westwood's pieces though, this one comes with a high price tag, £450.

The Dress

Tartan Dress - Lipsy
Tartan Dress - Lipsy

I'm not usually a fan of Lipsy clothes, they tend to be in the lurex and spangley variety that is so popular with the TOWIE crew, but I do like this little tartan number. It's the sort of thing you can wear during the day with tights and boots then dress up for the evening. Plus, at £50 it's a sort of cheap version of Vivienne Westwood. Still a little pricey for me though.
This dress is part of the AW13 range and not on the website yet, but keep an eye out, it should be soon.

The Coat

This Pushbutton Tartan Coat from Opening Ceremony looks like an old man's dressing gown, I think that's why I like it, I can just imagine curling up inside it.

However, as it is $1,245, with postage on top, it may be easier to just ransack a charity shop for a checked dressing gown.

The Skirt

Check Skirt - People Tree
Check Skirt - People Tree

Ethical clothing company People Tree have given the traditional pencil skirt a twist with this checked number. I like the waist tie and the little side slit. This would look great with a lacey black slip just peeping out.
Again, this is part of the AW13 range and not on the site yet. I also don't know the price, but People Tree products tend to veer towards the expensive, so I'm guessing I won't be able to afford this.

That's all folks. Check back (get it?) next Friday for some more unaffordable prettiness.

Tattoo Trends: Pin Up Girls

Sailor Jerry Girl Pin Ups

Pin up girl tattoos have kept many a sailor company on a long voyage.

Sailor Jerry type tattoos are very popular and show no sign of going out of fashion. But realistic women are also a trend that has been running for years. 1940s pin up girls are still the style to have, that was the time of the most famous pin ups, including Bettie Page.

There are scantily clad 1940s style girls adorning bodies everywhere.

It used to be that this style of tattoo was only for men, but in recent years more and more women have been sporting pin ups, the most famous being Amy Winehouse.

If I Were A Rich (Wo)Man: Old Hollywood Glamour

Ginger Rogers
Ginger Rogers

This week's wishlist is based on old Hollywood glamour.

Why? Why the hell not? Sometimes we need a bit of glamour in our lives and the ladies of the Golden Age of Hollywood, like Ginger Rogers up there, did it properly.

The Dress

Giselle Dress from Ghost

Slinky and sexy yet classic, this Giselle Dress from Ghost is just beautiful.

I love the side buttons and the sleeves. Plus it has an unexpected open back.

It's dye-to-order so there are several colour options, the emerald is my favourite.
£195.

The Bag

You've got to have a clutch bag if you're doing Hollywood glamour. I like this double layered Calli Cut-Out Bag from Coast, simple yet interesting.

£50

The Necklace

Gold Filled Silver Flower Pearl Necklace by Neha

Pearls are a statement Hollywood look, especially when combined with a detailed clasp. This Gold Filled Silver Flower Pearl Necklace by Neha from Boticca is a classic example.

The layers and the gold and white really work together. £384 though, way out of my budget.

The Shoes

God, I love these Mae West shoes by Charlotte Olympia. They feature an image of the Hollywood siren herself.

I'm not usually one to go gooey over footwear but this side view is divine.

They're £795 a pair though, almost two months rent. Are shoes worth becoming homeless for? Maybe.

Tattoo Trends: Animal Instinct

Animal Tattoo

Animals have always been a popular tattoo theme, especially creatures like lions that denoted strength.

Animal tattoos have stayed fairly steady in popularity but they now seem to be having a boost. This may be to do with the woodland trend that is evident in home and fashion at the moment. The theme seems to have passed over to tattoos and consequently a lot of people are getting forest creatures indelibly etched onto themselves.

Animal tattoos are often used to symbolise an emotion or, to get cheesy, the spirit within. Wild animal tattoos usually signify power or freedom of spirit.

This tiger tattoo is amazing.

Ditto this wolf.

But it's not only wild animals that people are getting inked, pets are also very popular, usually as a way to mourn a beloved member of the family.

Look at that face!

Of course, some animal tattoos do not turn out the way people planned.

I'm not even sure what creature that's supposed to be.

Epic.
